nz blogosphere rankings: top 20

NZ blogosphere rankings are being finalised and the full list will be released tomorrow - the top 20 have been ranked however, and are now in the sidebar.

The major move is the debut of Trotter and Hooton's Policy Blog - at #14. These guys have taken to blogging as Winston has taken to baubles.

A number of bloggers have sent in their traffic stats and some have provided their posts and comments stats also - thank you all.

I mentioned some time back that I would lower the Alexa estimated traffic to incentivise the disclosure of traffic stats - the idea being that if a blogger has a non-public stat counter and sees that they are being undercounted they will send in their stats. That's the theory. Some have sent me stats even though it is lower than what the Alexa score would yield - which is very decent of them considering it costs them in the rankings. That means that the estimates will have to be lowered again as it is still too high and disadvantages those who are actually being transparent (eg. NZ Conservative). I will issue another graph before the next survey. This graph will include all the new traffic stats being reported since the last update in June. And I'll get the graph the right way around too!

Tim, I raise an electronic glass of Central Otago pinot noir in appreciation of the work you do on this.

I don't regard blogging as a competition, but it's interesting to see the rankings.

I see Slater's lost the plot again and dropped yet another place! Good show!
