nz blogosphere February rankings now online

The rankings have finally been compiled and are online.

Big movers, Poneke (#11) and The Hive (#9) have had their prolific posting and insider perspectives recognised - a reflection of traffic especially. The ex-expat (#22) and Mr Bhatnagar (#20) have made solid gains. I dumped the Free Speech Coalition's blog (#9 in Jan) because it was an aggregation tool recycling original material. I note Blair Mulholland's original blog, The Whig (#27 in Dec), has suicided.

The ranking scores at the top end are also increasing:

@ #100: Feb=40, Jan=43, Dec=32
@ #50: Feb=128, Jan=114, Dec=106

I expect as the election creeps closer that it will continue to increase. Also inter-connexion is continuing to build within the blogosphere - that was my overall impression.

On a technical note, the ttlb is rusty and prone to wild numbers at times; but recently they have been upgrading and going off-line and spazzing out - so some of the blogs have a "?" and I've had to use technorati to plug the gap. I may have to find an alternative to them in future if their upgrade doesn't pan out. And as for Alexa rankings being a discredited method of traffic calculation please read this post which shows it is somewhat reliable at the upper end at least (and there isn't any other method I know of to do it).

The rankings are one aspect to the list, it is also designed to be a form of directory to assist bloggers find out about each other. There are currently 166 active blogs on that list. If you want to suggest a blog that meets the criteria please do so here.
